About Magical Weddings...Our Story
So, just what makes a Magical Wedding so beautiful?
-
Vivid, warm, glowing, rich, vibrant, color! (except B&W, of course)
-
Natural light, not flash, except when absolutely necessary. We even use reflectors to bend the real natural light!
-
Soft, flattering images, slightly smoothed, but of course not blurred.
-
Shot in continuous camera mode so we capture the peak emotions.
-
Individually edited to get the best of all the above.
-
Multiple photographers and cameras to catch more peak action!
-
And always looking for that magical natural light!
Is it just about some special equipment?
Absolutely not!
Our 2–3 person team brings an intuitive, experience-driven approach to every wedding we capture. We anticipate the emotions before they unfold—like the expressions on the bride, groom, and their parents as she makes her entrance. In that unforgettable instant, when all eyes are on her… her eyes are on him! Through rapid, continuous shooting, we ensure his reaction is captured as well.
The ring ceremony is, yet, another fleeting sequence that demands precision and expertise. From the exchange of vows to the placement of each ring and the final kiss, we’re ready for every moment—because we know exactly what’s coming next.
With over 800 weddings and more than 30 years of combined team experience, we bring a level of instinct and reliability that gives our clients an edge in enchanting images!
Our Story & What We Believe
JD is a US Army Veteran and lifelong serious amateur photographer. But, our (JD and wife, Yoly) journey into wedding photography didn't begin until over 30 years ago. When asked by a close friend if we would photograph their wedding, we entered a "yes" with some degree of apprehension. However, after receiving so many positive comments from the couple as well as their friends, we felt more at ease in this environment and that led to more weddings and the purchase of more professional equipment to accommodate larger film formats. Originally, Yoly paid attention to details that are difficult to see in the viewfinder of a camera, such as a stray hair, a necklace or ring askew, or a veil that just wasn't adjusted correctly. But this quickly turned into she wanting her own camera at just about the same time as digital photography took hold. So, now she does both...she looks at details and shoots images while JD is occupied shooting in another location. Regularly, our son joins the family venture as a 3rd shooter!
We have recently added another husband/wife team of photographers to enable us to be almost everywhere during a wedding. At times we have had five of our photographers busy in various locations and angles at a wedding! This increases the shots and locations we are able to photograph and gives bridal couples an unmatched selection of images of their event! Few photographers can match that coverage.
We believe in treating the bride and groom with dignity and respect, but always trying to keep it friendly. An initial consultation helps brides become familiar with us and helps us to communicate what to expect on the wedding day, along with many tips about the day's timeline.
On a personal level, we love dogs ourselves and often ask if any of your furry family members will be taking part in the ceremonies. That usually draws comments such as "Oh, we never thought of that". They are always welcome as far as we are concerned. Our own dog, however, will get a break by staying at Pet Paradise while we are photographing your event!
